Sooo rain still heavy and if we do start we start losing overs
Guessing that doesn't really play into our hands with our inability to get wickets?

I’m guessing washout preferred now taking a point against Pakistan in this group could still be useful
Cricket sentences you don't expect to read:
The Super Eights phase was pre-seeded according to ICC rankings, with Zimbabwe taking the place reserved for Australia, the one team in the top eight not to advance.
So if NZ make the semis, Aus do not have direct access to 2028 Olympics and have to qualify via a tournament based on rankings. Surely that’s an incentive in itself
Well, my opinion of T20 is that it's a bit of a crapshoot.
Sharing points with Pakistan means that the pool becomes more of a crapshoot.
That works against us if you think we're one of the stronger teams in the pool (and especially if you think we're better than Pakistan) and for us if you think we're weaker.
Given that all four second placed teams are in our pool, I'm inclined to think we'd have been better to reduce the crapshoot element by playing all our games.
vs England will be a crapshoot, though Nepal nearly beat them.
Zimbabwe beat SL and both beat Oz.
Roll them dice!
I don't think the change of venue does us any favours. If we manage to emerge from the group I assume we have to go back to India
Assuming Lanka finish this well only needing 147, then that sets the standard in our group. New Zealand would also need to dispatch England to ensure run rate good enough
Sri Lanka might struggle from here even though plenty of time to go… this would make super eights interesting if this continues. Still lots of time left in this one

Proteas hit form to early. Ready to choke now.
The worst part is if you do, you look like the most balanced team competing.
this time we tour NZ with men and women in a T20 series to celebrate the choke.
The Proteas have named a 15-member squad for the five-match series against New Zealand. https://www.icc-cricket.com/tournaments/mens-t20-world-cup-2026/news/south-africa-announce-t20i-squad-for-new-zealand-tour
England beating Pakistan is a good result for us. The game tonight against SL likely determines if we get to the SFs. A win eliminates SL and a positive NRR would help too before the last game.
Were they in the nets with a different coloured ball? Chapman and Mitchell were bloody miles away.
Clearly pace off is king. Lots of grip on this surface too, so part time spin has a place. Massive well done to our lower middle order for even giving us a target to chase. Satnav and McConchie fcuking outstanding. Highest NZ 7th wicket partnership in T20. Don’t know if we have enough to win but at least something to bowl at. Please don’t bowl pace. NZ 168/7 after 20
SL's lowest ever powerplay in T20 world cups.
Bloody impressive so far, who's going to be the one to go for 30 off their over? RR?
Incredible effort this, even we can’t lose from here. Amazing comeback. McConchie selection delivered in spades.
Pressure on Pakistan and their net run rate if we lose to England. Beat England and we’re in anyway, well done lads
That first ball from Henry was an absolute peach/jaffa
and to take out one of SL's key batsmen too, no wonder it went downhill for them from there
A real captain's performance.
I will have to watch some highlights with these shitty match times.
We will need to lose badly to England and Pakistan to thrash SL for us to miss out on the semi's
Looks like Pak win/NZ lose by around 70 runs or 6 - 7 overs to allow Pakistan to overcome our superior net run rate.
Excellent result.
Ravindra making me eat humble pie for saying he shouldnt be in the T20 side. What a big game performance.
Captaincy certainly seems to suit Santner. Wonderful cricketer.

Ravindra took awhile to find his feet at test level as well to be fair. Time will tell whether or not he bothers with shorter forms as he gets older.
Things tracking well but always dangerous commenting on NZ Cricket when things are going ok so I'll leave it at that.
Thought we'd definitely blown that, when Phillips, Rachin, Chapman and Mitch Jr all perished in short order (and just when we seemed to be getting on track for a decent score). And then Satnav and McConchie could barely get the ball off the square (I think we had a 30 ball spell where we were something like 15/4).
Quite incredible comeback by Satnav and McConchie and then SL was never in it with the bat, from ball one where Henry spiked their biggest gun.
I guess the only thing that slightly concerns me is that England will get a free swing at us - with no pressure.
But it's England - all we need to do is send out a few hot chicks to lure them into a nightclub and get them plastered.
