Got up and watched the last 5 overs.
Fuck.
59 off five on that surface was a tough ask. Phillips got hit. T20 is this: two sixes clear fielders on the rope - slightly underhit and NZ win. But that's frustrating to lose from there.
A close loss, whatever the circumstances, is like a win. NZ still have a healthy NRR advantage over Pakistan.

Positive have to
Chase in 13.1 overs
Win by 64 runs
In SL we trust

OK, so that's how much Pakistan need to win by ? So they win but chase in 15 or win by 50 runs NZ are through ?
Huge ask to dish out a hiding of that magnitude.

Yeah I didn't wanna say this but thought someone would.
Bloody Inzy. I'll never forget 92.
Pretty disappointing.
We let them off the hook twice - after 14 overs we were 123/3 and only managed 36/4 in our final six overs. A better finish would have set 180+.
Then the last three overs were obviously a disaster.
Was only watching on Cricinfo, but I did wonder whether they would/should go back to an over of pace in the 16th or 17th over - just to see what would happen and because I thought they'd have to bowl Henry or Ferg at some point, anyway. With the benefit of hindsight, I'm sure they would - but Rachin did so well in the 16th...
Unfortunately, assuming we get through, we'll have to play SA - I'll be annoyed if England get WI. Not too much difference playing SA or India IMO.
Playing without Matt Henry won't help.

This is a great post reinforcing what underdogs we are. Good stuff
Ah so just got off plane looks like we bottled it. Hopefully Sri Lanka feel they have something to play for

Modern T20. Sixes either go over the fielder or get caught on the boundary. Two in the last 5 overs I watched... Slightly under hit those and NZ win

Nothing
It was not looking good for a while there, thankfully SL got their arses into gear.
Just hope the run chase doesn't fall apart.
Was that a Pakistani commentator? "Boundaries don't matter, only 6's matter, he can hit as much boundaries as he wants"
What a cockhole, he only needs to hit two 6's you knob jockey, the rest only need to be 4's.
Last 2 deliveries about the widest you'll see, first was just inside the teams on the full, second was off the pitch.
No call. What a load of shit.

Not the mocking I expected from someone that's delicate.

Look Boner, I'm not attacking something he can't change. Like his name for example.

Ha ‘Boner’ !
Fun little friendly between these teams, roll on the semis for the big dogs.
Time to be confident, Black Caps have got this, it’s their time. Get on the bandwagon folks !
Two wins from glory !!!
Who thought that wash out would help. Hard to know which Pakistan ever turns up. Eitherway we have done enough to make the semis.
I wouldn't be that confident Duffy or Jamieson will have the same impact with the ball as Henry in the SF.
All I can say for this one is go the Windies !
It would be sensational, however unlikely, if they knocked India out of their own tournament.

Yeah - generally not the choice you'd make - but, in the crapshoot - every dog may have his day.
Not sure whether I'd go Kyle or Jake - or how they'll go with Jimmy vs Ish or McConchie.
Somewhat think Ish's leggies might be more dangerous and Big Kyle might be more likely to extract top order wickets.
Seifert, Allen, Rachin, Phillips, Mitch Jr, Chapman, Santner, Neesham, Jamieson, Sodhi, Ferg for me, I think.
You could actually play Duffy for Neesh - and probably should.
Just trust the top 7 to get it done on the day.
If we bat first, I think you've just got to follow the lead of the Windies and our Olympic snowboarders and go big or go home.
@Chris-B. said in T20 World Cup:
We need more from Mitch Jr - our kingpin - and Chapman.
Moonhead jnr would be disappointed probably in his own form of late, would be great for a change in form starting next game.
Satnav didn’t take any plaudits in Sri Lanka game interestingly pointed out his own 3 from 10 in previous game. So clearly players very aware

Neesh has only batted once the whole tournament for 23 not out and his bowling is always a bit too heart in the mouth for my liking. I think they can do without him.
@Old-Alleynians said in T20 World Cup:
@Chris-B.
Sodhi doesn't get trusted enough - he is a point of difference.
I have to say that Ish makes me nervous as fuck when he bowls - but in winner take all crapshoots I like his risk and reward value.
He won't bowl 24 good balls, but he'll probably bowl half a dozen dangerous ones.
@Chris-B. said in T20 World Cup:
@Bovidae I reckon Neesh has been badly underused as a batsman over his career.
I wouldn't mind seeing him picked and batted at 3 as a pinch hitter.
I see merit in that and he can certainly hit but the team is pretty stacked in terms of batsmen. It's the bowling that is the worry hence the need to get as many decent guys in there to turn the arm over and put the pressure on.
@MN5 We're going to have Phillips and Ravindra as bowling cover - whatever happens,
And Satnav can bat at 7.
Just a question of who the other four main bowlers are.
Lockie is locked in - so three more from Ish, McConchie, Duffy, Jamieson, Neesham.
One of these guys might only have to bowl a couple of overs - some of them may not need to bat.
All part of the crapshoot.
Who have we got who can go big - with bat or ball?
