Pretty funny how Rachin has gone from our batsman @ 3 struggling for runs and form to be our top wicket taker in this WC, with 11 wickets. Top wicket takers overall have 13...
Any changes needed for the team ? ( if you want to change a team that dished out such a hiding )
Neesham got a wicket but he also went for 14 an over ( next worst was McConchie with nine off his single over which he also took a couple of wickets )
They probably look at Neesham for batting insurance but I'd be tempted to bring Sodhi in
It's a good pickle for the selectors to have I guess.

I'd probably be looking at playing Jamieson or Duffy for him.

I'd lean towards Duffy coming in for Neesham.
Wonderful effort Black Caps. Proteas coached talked a big game before the match. Black Caps delivered on the field.
I don’t think worrying about carrying an extra batter is relevant unless the pitch demands it. We’ve done well so far playing horses for courses.
Fielding still below par and in most cases would lose you games. 2 dropped catches early could have been costly. Bowling unit did pretty well though. In T20 doesn’t matter if someone gets their eye in like Allen and just kills it.
Spectacular opening partnership and individual effort from Allen. Hopefully has one more in him lol

I'm still upset that he never developed into a Stokes style all rounder at test level. a couple of hundreds and some, well, potentially good bowling in his only 12 tests proved he could have done it. I suppose we got some decent CDGH performances.
He has found his Neesh in this format I guess but he's a bit of a passenger of late.

McConchie bowled in the power play 2nd over and took 2 wkts that was crucial for us, he also batted very well and help turn the tide in the Sri Lanka game and is and was excellent in the field.
He is now vital in the side in India.

Fuck's sake - I'd seen the notification on phone with result, but held off from actually looking at it properly, working my way up to accepting the expected disappointment.
Finally read it - saw "by 9 wickets", and then had to check/double-check the actual winning team.
Then straight to TSF to confirm it was true... not often I bother to watch cricket highlights, but it sounds like it's worth it in this case...

Anderson's century was the fastest by a NZer in any format, so Allen has gone past that now.

Allen really is tailor made for T20. First name down on the team sheet at the moment
Astle 153 balls, Stokes 163.
Brook 310 balls for the triple but Sehwag 278.
Interestingly no wicket keeper has scored a triple. Sangakarra and McCullum both playing purely as batsmen when they scored theirs. Four guys have scored triples and taken wickets in the same match though. Gooch, Jayasuriya Gayle and Clarke.

McCullum had a 195 off 134 balls, caught at long off, so was probably a few meters away from shattering Astles record.
Finally watched the highlights. What a display. The bowling attack choked SA after a promising start, Seifert and Allen were toying with the Saffa bowlers, and were brutal at times. Finn Allen's swing speed was crazy fast, hopefully we haven't shot our bolt early
Watched highlights this evening and we got plenty lucky at times, edges between and over slip and gully, mot sure what de Kock was doing running back and over calling Brevis (henceforth known as Butthead), plenty of miss hits.
Oh yeah, and the TMO over ruling Dazza himself and giving that "catch" as out.
But that's T20.
Plenty to love about the shots that stuck.

NZ v England at Ahmedabad would have been the final most of the world wanted. In front of 130k fans in Indian tops. Sad it didnt happen.
Another crazy stat from that Finn Allen innings. He was on 59 when we needed 39 to win. Getting to a century from there is mind boggling stuff! Rachin helped by only scoring one run from that point on.
