England can be proud (disappointed losing) but at least were highly competitive in a high scoring semi. Didn’t go out with a whimper.

India to face their second nemesis after Pakistan in the final. Hopefully our guys pumped and ready for this. Should be fun

Bethel is a talent. Great innings in a losing effort.

Slightly "different" article. Not sure whether to be offended by the shitty sheep quip or not.

My team for the final.....

Seifert
Allen
Ravindra
Phillips
Chapman
Mitchell
Santner
McConchie
Henry
Duffy
Ferguson

Batting definitely looks weaker on paper like that but the idea of Neesh bowling pies to hungry Indians is quite frankly horrific.

Good team, hope it’s the one they choose.

So do I. I don't think the old adage of not changing a winning team applies here despite hammering SA like that and if NZ are ANY chance then its imperative they tighten Indian scoring opportunities as much as possible. Neesh just isn't the guy to do that.

Some wonderful strikers in that top seven, as good as any in the World ( which is probably why they made the final )

still question marks on the bowling though.

Key difference is we’re lucky to get here, they go into each game as favourite and find a way to lose

How many of those finals have we gone into either as favourites or at least close to even money? For me the worst one was 2019. But we were essentially underdogs for all the rest won't we?

Yes, we overachieve to reach a final and then are underdogs against a cricket superpower when we get there.

The worst one?

England were expected to win that world cup in a canter.

It took a herculean effort by Stokes to draw the match and he had unbelievable luck doing it.

Then they won it on a boundary count back which was the first time they moved away from the previous method that would have seen NZ win it.

My memory is clearly not the best. The manner of defeat hurt the most. You have helped reinforce my point though, that we've never been finals favourites, more overachiever

We have played finals against Australia (x2), England (x1) and India (x1) since 2015.

They have vast resources in everything you can think of when it comes to
Cricket compared to NZ.

Its like Crystal Palace getting to the final of the champions league against Real Madrid and then being labelled chokers when they lose!

The only time we may have been faves was in the test world champ finals.

We had probably our best Test side at the time and the schedule meant our prep was better than India going into the final. Not sure if we were the bookies favourites though.

It was pretty tough conditions for most of the match but the way we got the win against India was very impressive.

The manner of defeat in 2019 did hurt. It took something special from stokes and even then had lots of luck to force the super over.

I suppose you make your own luck in games like that so fair play to him

Not sure we ever started as favourites. And haven't been anywhere near as inventive in inventing ways to lose.

No Quarter

Let's do this, we denied these fluffybunnies a WTC, let's deny them a T20WC as well.

Comon cricket Gods shine down on our boy Allen.

Happy to see us bowl first

Bones

Geez half of Duffy's over were right in the sweet spot, in the swing arc on the up.

No Quarter

Could be a long 20 overs

Hard disagree. Need scoreboard pressure.

Indian commentators will do my nut in.

Two shocking wide calls so far.

MajorStokes

Yeah think I’m going to do some other things during India innings.

Looking like 300-350 at this point. Need wickets / screws down but seeing no indication of that!

KiwiMurph

This is the bowl first version of mcg 2015

No Quarter

Enough with the wides sheesh

sparky

India off to a flying start.

Bones

Ooooookaaaaay.

How much do you get from underworld figures for 4 wides in an over again?

No Quarter

Our bowlers are completely falling apart, all on their own doing

Some excellent hitting in there too it must be added

KiwiMurph

So what's the deal with no McConchie

Feels like a massive over think

No Quarter

Actually not a single thing going right, almost game over already

KiwiMurph

It's not almost game over.

It is game over

No Quarter

@kiwimurph only almost because we have Finn Allen, but if he doesnt go huge we're already no chance

No Quarter

Great first 2 overs then Duffy and Ferg handed momentum to them with 2 VERY poor overs

No Quarter

In Rachin we trust

Finn Allen chasing 300 is on a hiding to nothing.

Bones

Really adding a string to our fielding bow here. The embellished dive over the top of the ball to let it continue on it's way to the boundary is looking great.

It's called the Lou Vincent

KiwiMurph

Not sure a second over of Ferguson was the go....

No Quarter

Ferg is getting destroyed lol, I thought they'd put a score on but this is crazy. Good hitting plus poor bowling
