Well cynically speaking the top players are getting extra games and are against weaker opposition. They should be putting in more goals (which is probably the point of the tournament).

Brazil carry on like absolute flogs. Neymar is such an unlikeable douchebag. Pictures of crying brazilian children in teh crowd warm the cockles of my heart. What the fuck was the ref doing trying to let them back in to a game that should have been over?

Haaland is a remarkable player. I've never seen someone so unaffected by not getting touches. The ball doesn't go near him for extended periods and he still converts the two chances presented to him.

Windows97

Has there ever been a more dissapointing "star player" at the WC than Neymar? Seems to have spent the last 2 rolling around on the ground and gesticulating wildy at the ref...

For a country that used to produce the best of no. 9's, Brazil haven't had a proper one since around 2010 with Luis Fabiano or Adriano before him. It's funny that they are eliminated by the brilliance of one of the only pure 9's running around today. They had their chances but blew them. Deserved to lose. The last Brazil team that were a genuine chance to win the world cup was the 2018 group. Neymar was at his peak in that tournament and they looked good but came undone against Belgium's golden generation and a all-time performance from Eden Hazard.

@Windows97 His career ends up as a case of "what if". Has all the club accolades, was apart of some great teams and arguably the greatest front three ever (Messi/Suarez/Neymar), has the goal scoring record for Brazil... but I still can't help but think that he never reached his full potential. Never won the Ballon D'or which admittedly, is hard in the Messi/CR7 era and he flopped at most of the world cups he played in.

Back in 2014 i must have re-watched that pasting to the Germans half a hundred times. God it was glorious, seeing them crying in the stands.

mariner4life

i love a good hate watch

Tim

I really hope that no one on here ever wore a Brazilian jersey. Especially in the 90s or early 00s.

KiwiPie

Am I allowed to say that I really liked the Brazil team of 1970? And 1982? Not since though. You wonder why they selected Igor Thiago, a big lump of a centre-forward, and then didn't bring him on when they needed something different.

Mexico v England delayed due to the weather ....

i remember as a kid collecting some card series based on Football players. Must have been in the late 70's early 80's
Zico comes to mind as a player i would have seen on one of those cards.

Tim

Always support team USA. It makes the worst kind of euros angry when they win.

Virgil

Following the England v Mexico score online, its been 0-0 for a while
look away for just a couple of mins and its all of a sudden 2-1 to the Poms.
3 goals in 6 mins

Go the poms btw..

mariner4life

i missed it had started, i thought it was delayed?

mariner4life

oh. i thought the initial kick off was 11am my time. my bad

Mexico have controlled the game. England have been quite content to sit back in a compact defensive set up and hit on the counter - which they did twice. Bellingham making the difference on both ends. Would be surprised if Mexico don't score again, they've had some great chances.

mariner4life

well well. England were looking very good and now might be a bit fucked

This game is chaotic. Kane converts and now England will be building a wall to keep the Mexicans out.

mariner4life

will they try and make Mexico pay for it?

mariner4life

this will be the softest penalty in history if given

mariner4life

oh nah that's fucked

There is more drama in this game than a Mexican telenovela. Want England to win but I am eating up all the drama.

mariner4life

is this fluffybunny on the take?

antipodean

@mariner4life This is the same FIFA that arbitrarily decided that a red card now no longer means a game's suspension?

It's the most corrupt sport on the face of the planet.

mariner4life

England cannot do this for another 20 minutes, they need to find an avenue to break out and get some possession

Down a man, at altitude and defending for the last 15+ mins. Gonna take a mighty effort and a lot of luck to keep the Mexicans out.

Kiwiwomble

Graphic in the corner shows how dominant Mexico has been even being behind

Virgil

Based on the earlier game I’m assuming there’s about 15 mins of extra time still to play… ( fuck these water/ad breaks)

mariner4life

based on what i am watching old mate will play until Mexico score

Virgil

Fuck me I was close. 11 mins
Someone should point out to FIFA you can actually pause the clock when there’s a break

mariner4life

England are out on their feet

antipodean

Surely you just dive in the box every five seconds until the ref awards you one? If they get the equalizer, England look to be up shit creek without a paddle.

Windows97

11 minutes extra time lol

Mexico spamming crosses for the last 25 mins made them so much easier to defend.

mariner4life

what a win that is.

Virgil

Get the fuck in
And get fucked Mexican fans

Windows97

Norway and England - whoever would have thought??

Lucky England have the Sunday QF. They'd be knackered after this game.

KiwiPie

What a game, that was exhausting to watch. Hydration break critical for England to reset and bring on another very tall centre-half
