That doesn't matter. According to the laws tackling a player without the ball is dangerous play which overrides the other infringement.
The Aussies have a well justified inferiority complex when it comes to rugby. Their commentary is so hard to listen to.
That said not a great reffing performance - just all over the place.
DMac is getting worse for me. Always had that ability to break a game open. Nowadays just seems to have lost a bit of speed and confidence. Still very good but the edge has gone I think. Always better at fullback where his sideways running is more effective.

Tim Horan doubling down on the refs but only the calls that went against QLD. What a fucking loser.
What a feral crowd and terrible commentary. Horan has a grating voice to begin with but he was channelling his inner-Marshall.
Playle wasn't great but the Reds got away with a lot at the breakdown and Wilson should have been penalised for direct contact to Tupaea's head.
Lord went off before HT (35 mins) so it must have been an injury/HIA. But according to the main commentator he was still playing in the 2nd half.

Thought the refs stuffed up a bit, but still don't know for sure that was a try by reds on halftime. Needed to see side angle for me. Anyway it wasn't given so it wasn't, same as Wilson head on head contact in tackle with Tupaea, which was most probably ripe for a YC.
Enjoyed game, was amused at commentators saying the crowd are upset with ref early. F*** me I was at Suncorp for a hell of a lot of super games over about 15 or so years I lived there, they were always upset at refs every bloody game. Last night I sure I heard booing as Chiefs came onto field at start of game.
I’m not into loading on officials and regardless of the reactions of commentators and the crowd all 4 officials need to have a long look at their on field performance
Not taking a look at the Reds try before halftime when a grounding could be clearly seen beggared belief
Is the TMO not in place to make the correct decision?
If the boot was on the foot I have no doubt if the game was played in Hamilton the crowd reaction would have been the same.
Be an interesting review for this officiating team come Monday morning

Regardless of the result Officials were a disgrace, another shocker after Doleman and company were terrible in the Crusaders v Canes game.
Every week now we are getting a horrendous performance by the officials.
Jayden is much shorter so more a 6 than a lock. The stats show that Sa made much more tackles than Parker despite the difference in minutes played. He was busy.

I did just before, it looks like one to me.
Just a matter of interest, I just watched a Prem game from England and commentators are pointing out just as many offsides etc that they think were missed, just not quite as stridently as the ones from last night.
Asking a favour of the ones who know how to do it. Can you take a screenshot of the disputed try, and post it here, showing the ball over or on the line, on the ground and it being pressed down by a Reds player?
That will put discussion on it to rest, and we can see the proof that the ref needed to say it was definitely a try.

The crowd and the partisan idiots in the commentary team need to open their other eye.
The comms fed off the crowd starting to get feral. Every time they saw a bobble it was the most egregious preplanned conspiracised decision in the history of the world.
Would suggest they check the law book and definition of a knock on (it needs to go forward). Most of the stuff they were booing about they were wrong. But it just fed their rage.
Just read through the thread and whoever described Turuni as unprofessional was 100% correct.
The biggest mistake by the ref, and he deserves criticism for it, was not checking the knock-ons before the Hutchison "try". But even then Reds got lucky in eventual outcome in that no card was issued for the cynical play at the halfback.
And moving on ... Re the not try to Qld at halftime. Nobody saw a grounding over the line.
Both on field officials desperately searching, right there, hands and knees etc.
The replay we saw did show the ball on the ground, but did not show the ball on the ground over or on or touching the line. (Just checked on Stan).
I'm not buying there was sufficient evidence to overturn the on-field decision.
Having said that there would not have been sufficient evidence to overturn an on-field decision of try.
In summary, good guys won, and I reckon if you did a review of the officiating I think you'd find they got more right than wrong.

I would happily reduce the involvement of the TMO, but only if people didn't whinge when the replays show an error. The whinging and bitching is why we have the system we have now. We have what we deserve.

Maybe there could be a directive on what they replay on the big.screen (eg just the movement rather than focus on a specific moment)
Endless slo mo replays (still sometimes wrong) do no-one any good, especially the game.
Just catching up on this game. Bright spots for me were Sititi, Sa, Hutchinson and Norris. Couple of nice touches from Brown too.
Parker disappointing with a couple of bad mistakes. It's a very good Reds loose trio to be fair, but if you want to be the ABs starting blindside I don't think you can be the worst loosie from both teams in a Super game. Remains a problem position for us.
One does wonder when a crowd seems this feral if the officials don't get a bit nervous. Lots of non calls and a couple of apparently dangerous hits allowed to pass by. Re the no try I can't see the clear touchdown that so many are claiming. I do think he probably scored nevertheless. But there were a couple of chiefs limbs that looked like they might stop the touchdown
Pleased that the Chiefs showed composure. I thought the interference allowed on both half backs was way excessive. Well done to them!
Flook and Paisami were a handful.

SRP has decided to minimise interventions from the TMO, unless it is foul play. The ref needs to ask them, which is very different to up north.

Was going to add in this post re the TMO no try call that I'm pretty sure the TMOs have multiple hi def monitors and thus are looking at multiple simultaneous angles. So that they can check the timing of when the ball touches the ground and can compare it to where the ball is relative to the tryline on the other screen. Whilst we see one angle at a time.
