Someone said Leicester Fainga'anuku should be fast tracked into the squad by replacing ALB and I suggested he's more likely to be in as a wing due to his defensive issues.
On ALB, I love him, but he either starts for me or doesn’t make the 23 - he’s been a penalty magnet off the bench, you cant make the tackles you miss because you are on the sideline with another YC.
Given that he either starts or doesn’t make the 23, I’m not sure he can hold his place - he shouldn’t be rated as top 2 at either 2nd five or center.
I’m not sure he makes the squad even if completely healthy.

Guy played 14 out of 14 tests last year so it would seem unlikely that they would drop him from the squad.

On a broader level, if that’s where we are staying with our selections, we’ll be lucky to get much impact from the bench.

Another factor to consider is it's likely as you tire you'll miss a higher percentage as you tire, especially if you're attempting more and playing big minutes.

Main difference with Fainga'anuku is his defensive accuracy. When he was at the Crusaders it was between 55% - 75%. He's bumped that up to 75.6% at Toulon this year. It's an improvement.
But if you look at the other midfield contenders he'd be near the bottom in Super Rugby:

Against Italy, he was co-captain I believe , we were on a warning and he ripped the ball after being told to let it go by the ref.
Barrett also got a Yc in that game I think.

I am kinda shocked by PUJ's versus Rieko's stats.
It might be helpful if they were labelled at 12 or 13 but I guess too much work to separate when they've played both.
Yeah it was quite surprising to see guys that have regularly made big breaks, appear quite far down the gainline success stats

The comment was made above that he got three YCS in the autumn series. The original YC he received in this game was for an off the ball tackle, but they then found the below and the YC was changed to a head high tackle. So two YCs in the same game.

It's not the percentage made over the gain line.
It's the percentage of times you make it over the gainline when you carry.
So if AJ Lam makes 100 carries then 79 of them will make it over the gain line.
When Jordie Barrett makes 100 carries then 54 of them will make it over the gain line.

Personally I'd have Ollie Norris ahead of Fusitu'a but the signs are there that the latter is getting the nod. Would also have Brodie McAlister ahead of Bell.
I think if the Maori All Blacks weren't playing then Rivez Reihana would be in this squad at the expense of David Havili. If I were in charge of selecting I'd also go for Folau Fakatava ahead of Hotham for much the same reason.
I can see Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens, Reihana and a fit Simon Parker and Caleb Tangitau all playing a role on the EOYT.
